In order to determine the condition of the bridge, examinations have been carried out to register and photograph the damage of the elements from the upper and lower structure of the bridge. It was concluded that only partial repairs of the structure have been done in the past years, but the overall condition remains risky, and therefore it must be rehabilitated and strengthened. In order to determine the quality of the concrete incorporated into the elements, a greater number of samples from different locations on the bridge have been extracted and examined.
The basic design consists of two parts:
• Design on current condition and
• Design for rehabilitation and strengthening of the bridge.
The first part of the design was developed in order to determine the actual load-bearing capacity of the elements, and thus to determine the need for strengthening of its cross-sections. The second part of the design presents the manner in which the strengthening is performed. Тhe elements are strengthened by combining two measures: an increase of the concrete cross-sections and increase of the rebar cross-sections.
During the control of the load-bearing capacity of the new element cross-sections, it was found that the required structural safety of the bridge structure was achieved with their strengthening.
